Invention-Mother of Necessity!

No, you didn’t read it wrong, and I didn’t write it wrong. Usually it’s said that

‘Necessity is mother of Invention’ but here we’re saying ‘Invention is the mother of Necessity!’ But why? Read it.

  • LASER: In 1958, Charles Towns invented LASER as fun activity. He wanted to concentrate the rays going in different direction on a single path. Well, he did it. LASER was invented. But, what was the use of it? He didn’t know that. Nobody knew.

Over time, we had to make that invention ‘Necessity!’. We started looking for ways to utilize it and over time, now we’re using LASER in Digital CDs, Barcodes, Fiber Optics, Laser Eye Surgery, etc.

  • Gramophone: Thomas Edison invented Gramophone in 1877. He invented it to record the last words of people on the bed of death, for family to listen again and again. Once when he went to a restaurant, he heard music being played on his invention. He got angry. But over time, he admitted that Gramophone actually was a stuff for music!
  • Motor Cars: Nicholas Otto created first IC Engine in 1866 but he didn’t know where to use it. People preferred Railways over Motor Cars as Cars were noisy and inefficient. However, when World War I started, people started looking for ways to transport soldiers, weapons, goods on road. Daimler Benz started manufacturing trucks with a firm’s name Benz.

Now, do you agree that (sometimes), Invention is the mother of Necessity? 😉
